De groep heeft Iran meerdere malen bezocht voor concerten en werkte samen met enkele grote namen, zoals Kayhan Kalhor en Hossein Alizadeh. De trioleden hebben een jazzachtergrond en hun ervaring met improvisatie is de belangrijkste reden waarom de samenwerkingen met de Iraanse musici zo succesvol zijn. Improvisatie speelt in de Perzische klassieke muziek namelijk een zeer belangrijke rol.\nEen andere zeer belangrijk aspect van de Iraanse cultuur is poëzie. Met beroemde namen als Rumi, Hafez en Ferdowsi is de Iraanse cultuur doordrenkt van poëzie. Dit is precies de specialiteit van zanger Mohammad Motamedi. Hij kent een groot aantal klassieke gedichten uit zijn hoofd en hij improviseert daar melodieën bij, aangespoord door zijn begeleiders, in dit geval het Rembrandt Frerichs Trio. Al spelende besluit hij dus welk gedicht te zingen, welk couplet, welke frase te benadrukken en welk woord te gebruiken voor lange melodische versieringen. Zjn handelsmerk is de tahrir, de elegante Iraanse ‘jodeltechniek’. The trio went to Iran several times for playing concerts and has been working together, and still áre working together, with several big names from the Iranian classical music scene like Kayhan Kalhor and Hossein Alizadeh.\nThe members of the trio come from the jazz scene and their improvisation experience makes their cooperation with the Iranian musicians so successful.
